We are still building on those geography skills! We’ve been increasing our knowledge of the UK and British Isles with an online quiz to name each country and capital city.
How many attempts will it take you to get all the correct answers?
As a real brain stretcher, we’ve tried another quiz to name all the countries in Europe…. our class map was helpful with this one. Even Miss McIlwaine has found it addictive trying to beat her past scores!
For the next two weeks, we are looking at Roald Dahl’s, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. We’ve had great fun inventing plans for new sweets and chocolate for Willy Wonka to make. We had to create some attractive packaging and write and present a persuasive speech as to why Wonka should choose our inventions
2A have been trying very hard to develop their map reading. The challenge area in class means they can keep building on these skills and expanding their knowledge of the world.
Can you name and find all seven continents?
What about the countries and capital cities of the British Isles?
Year 2 are loving their current IPC unit, ‘Hooray… Let’s Go On Holiday!’ We’ve already learnt about the different types of holiday we can take across the world, how we can look after our seasides and how different holidays were in the past. Today the children enjoyed completing their art project, creating a moodboard/collage for their chosen holiday.
As we come to the end of the term, we also come to the end of our IPC unit, Flowers and Insects. The children have loved using their enquiry skills to expand their knowledge and understanding of the topic. This week we ended the unit in style with a visit from Zoolab who bought a whole host of insects and other creatures for us to meet. We had the chance to ask lots of questions as well as observe and even hold our small visitors!
This week the children have been learning about Alexander Fleming’s discovery of Penicillin.
