Walk to the post office

Last week the children went for a chilly walk to the post office to post a very special letter they had written for their Mummy and Daddy.

We had to buy stamps to put on the envelops and then posted them in the post box.

Keep an eye out for your special letter to be delivered by your post man or post lady.

The Joly Postman

With Christmas just around the corner, the children have read the story of ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ delivering letters for Christmas.

As we read the story, we listened carefully for the rhyming words and anticipated what rhyming word we thought might come next.

Next Week…

Next week the children will be reading the story ‘After The Storm’ by Nick Butterworth. This is one of many lovely stories from the ‘Percy the Park Keeper’ series. As part of our learning in Literacy the children will be asked to sequence the events of the story, focusing on the beginning, middle and end.

Why not familiarise yourselves with the story by listening to it here.

Autumn Walk

The children went on an Autumn walk this week to have a look at how the environment changes during the seasons and collect leaves to bring back to class. We also went on a hunt to find spinning Jennys for the children to take home and play with.

Jacob went looking for his own leaves and spinning Jennys when he got home from school and brought them into class the next day to show his friends.

Bonfire night

This week the children have been discussing bonfire night. We talked about how to be safe around the bonfire, fireworks and sparklers. Some of the children’s suggestions were to stay close to Mummy or Daddy, wear gloves when playing with sparklers and not getting too close to the bonfire.

We have also been drawing our own firework pictures and writing the words we think of when we listen to fireworks. The children thought of words like pop, whoosh, boom, bang and fizz.
